Product Description
A small hoard of large ancient Byzantine bronze coins, most depicting Christ. Many date from between the reigns of John I, 969 - 976 AD, and Romanus IV, 1068 - 1071 AD, and depict the facing figure of Jesus Christ, with full or abbreviated inscription “Jesus Christ King of Kings” on the backs, although there are several different coin types represented here. Also noted are a couple coins of emperors Justinian I, 527-565 AD, Justin I, 518-527 AD, or Anastasius, 491-518 AD, with busts on the fronts and large lettering on the backs. Sizes range between 7/8" up to 1 3/8”! Ex Gitbud & Naumann, Austria.
