Biblical "Poor Widow's Mite" coin. Bronze prutah, coin type mentioned in the Bible. This is also the first Jewish coin type ever struck! Minted during the 1st Century BC but circulated throughout Judaea during the time of Christ. The coin depicts a double cornucopia adorned with ribbons and pomegranate within the two horns; small “L”, the back with paleo-Hebrew inscription: "Yehohanan the High Priest and the Council of the Jews" in five lines within wreath. ref: Hendin-454 for type. Coin diameter 13mm, with black patina and light green highlights. Encapsulated and graded Very Fine by NGC. Coin diameter 14mm, archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. ** Referred-to in the Gospel of Mark 12:41, and Luke 21:1-4...
