1935 A Silver Certificate R EXPERIMENTAL NOTE PCGS 45 # 614
Product Description
Being offered today is a VERY RARE ERROR $1 Dollar 1935 “A” series Silver Certificate “EXPERIMENTAL “R” Note. This note is graded by PCGS in 45 Choice Xtra Fine.
The note is printed slightly off center, which is why the note carries a lower grade. The front right margin is much wider than the left. The back margins display an even wider margin variation.
There were two notes in this series. A large red “R” and “S” in the lower right corner distinguished notes printed using special paper. This specific series are the only experimental Silver Certificates printed in this unique fashion. With quantities printed of 1,184,000, the “R” and “S” series were released June 20, 1944 and issued into circulation to test their comparative disabilities.
These experimental notes make up less than 1% of all 1935 A notes and survivors are considered scarce.
The test of the “R” and “S” currency was to help in the World War II effort to conserve resources. An “R” note was printed with regular paper. The “S” note was printed using special paper.
The color just pops off the note. The ink is well embossed. The colors are bright and bold. The well-preserved paper adds to its visual eye appeal.
The note will be encased in a long-term preservation holder. The holder is made to enhance the presentation of the encapsulated note and protects against tampering.
The notes are encased and sealed by PCGS. Every PCGS certified note is backed by the industry leading PCGS guarantee, which provides greater protection for both BUYERS AND SELLERS.
